Ghosts 'n' Stuff (partly also written Ghosts N Stuff , English for ghosts and so on ) is a song by Deadmau5 in collaboration with Rob Swire , who was the singer of the electronic band Pendulum at the time. The song was first published on October 27, 2008 on Beatport . The title is included on the album For Lack of a Better Name . A version without Swire was also released.
backgrounds
After Swire and Deadmau5 had already met before, they decided to produce a song together. The song was originally produced for a show by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 . At that time the song was still called "Hotel" because it was made in a hotel. The song premiered during a live audience at the HARD Haunted Mansion in 2008.
Music video
The music video, which was shot by Colin O'Toole in Toronto , was first released on YouTube on August 19, 2009 . There it got over 49 million hits. No music video was made for the version without Rob Swire, only pure audio is on YouTube.
Charts
The song failed to hit the UK charts the first week, but debuted at 61st the next week. The top spot was 12th. The single stayed in the top 75 for seven weeks to reach.
criticism
David Balls from Digital Spy had a positive opinion of the song: He said the song isn't as radio-commercial as productions by David Guetta , but it sounds just as good on the dance floor . The song was voted number 96 of the best songs of 2009 by listeners to the Australian radio station Triple J.
Use in the media
The song was used as background music in the film The Art of Flight and in advertising for the fifth season of America's Best Dance Crew . Nick Swisher , a New York Yankees baseball player , had the song played as an "at-bat song" whenever he had a success in the game. The music video was used in an episode of Beavis and Butt-Head . The song also appears at one point in the movie Men's Trip . The title was also used in a commercial for PlayStation Move . The song is also included in the soundtracks of the games Need for Speed: Shift , Test Drive Unlimited 2 and DJ Hero 2 .
