Gian Rupf (* 1967 in Zurich ) is a Swiss actor , reciter and filmmaker .

Life

Rupf comes from Landquart in the canton of Graubünden . From 1987 to 1990 he completed an acting training at the Zurich Acting Academy . Since then Rupf has mainly worked as a theater actor . In 1998 he was awarded the Graubünden Young Talent Award. He had engagements at the Landesbühne Niedersachsen Nord in Wilhelmshaven , at the Landestheater Tübingen , at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , at the Städtische Bühnen Bielefeld , in Munich and at the Theater Chur .

As an actor, Rupf interpreted a broad repertoire , which included, in particular, turn-of- the- century theater as well as modern and contemporary theater pieces. His stage roles included: Simin in Sommergäste by Maxim Gorki , Pjatjorkin in Wassa Schelesnowa by Maxim Gorki, Jean in Miss Julie ( Pasinger Factory in Munich), Joseph Garcin in Closed Society (Theater LaPoste in Visp ), Soldier in Andorra (Städtische Bühnen Bielefeld), First Actors in Rosenkrantz and Güldenstern are dead by Tom Stoppard , John Proctor in witch hunt , Patrick O'Hara in Arsenic and lace bonnet and Sad in Dreck by Robert Schneider . On the open-air stage in Dinkelsbühl he also played Don Quixote in the musical The Man from La Mancha . Rupf is now working as a freelance actor.

In addition to his work, Rupf works intensively as a reciter for monologues as well as for scenic and dramatic readings. He performed, among other things, with the monologue Die Odyssey-the great story by Bruno Stori and with programs with texts by Max Frisch , Ludwig Hohl ( Bergfahrt ), Silvio Huonder , Daniel Glattauer ( Gut gegen Nordwind ), Anton Chekhov ( The Bear , The Marriage Proposal ), Bertolt Brecht and Dario Fo . In the musical program "You Bride of Satan, You Heavenly Love!" he interpreted excerpts from the mutual love letters of the composer Hugo Wolf and the singer Frieda Zerny (1864-1917). He also recorded audio books with texts by TC Boyle ( lust for meat , big game hunt ).

Rupf also took on some film roles. He had episode roles and guest roles in the series Sinan Toprak is the incorruptible , Der Alte , Balko , SOKO 5113 and Marienhof . In the modern homeland film Im Tal des Schweigens in 2004 he was seen alongside Christine Neubauer and Sascha Hehn in the role of Fahrenholz . In the Swiss television series Day and Night , he had a leading role as film director David Amsler. In 2010 he played in the ARD television series In all Friendship in the episode One Carrying the Other's Burden an episode lead role as development worker and engineer Tobias Wagner, who falls in love with the doctor Kathrin Globisch. In 2011 he appeared again in this role in the episodes Return (March 2011) and Separate Paths (July 2011).

In December 2016 Rupf was seen in the ZDF series Die Bossin in an episode role as target investigator Max Kerber.

Rupf is also active as a director and filmmaker himself . He made short films and a documentary .

After more than fifteen years in Germany , Rupf has lived in Zurich since 2005 .
