Giorgio Lingua
Giorgio Lingua (born March 23, 1960 in Fossano , Italy ) is a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Diplomat of the Holy See .
Life
After completing his studies, Giorgio Lingua was ordained a priest on November 10, 1984 . After completing his doctorate in canon law , Lingua joined the Vatican's diplomatic service in 1992. He worked in the representations in Ivory Coast and the USA , in the Vatican State Secretariat and most recently as Counselor at the Representation of the Vatican in Serbia .
Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on September 4, 2010 titular Archbishop of Tuscania and appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Jordan and Iraq . He was ordained bishop by Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB on October 9, 2010 in St. Peter's Basilica ; Co- consecrators were the Cardinal Vicar for the Diocese of Rome , Cardinal Agostino Vallini , and the Prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life , Cardinal Franc Rodé CM .
On March 17, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Cuba . On July 22, 2019, the Pope appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Croatia .
