The Girou is a river in France that runs in the Occitania region . It rises in the Lauragais landscape , in the municipality of Puylaurens , generally drains in a north-westerly direction and, after 65 kilometers, flows into the Hers-Mort as a right tributary on the southern municipal boundary of Castelnau-d'Estrétefonds , just before its confluence with the Garonne . On its way, the Girou crosses the Tarn and Haute-Garonne departments .
