history

The St. Pankratius Church in Glessen

The certificate is probably a forgery, but in 1099 Glessen appears in the pension register of the abbey poorhouse. 1120 a chapel in Glessen is mentioned, which was subordinate to the mother church in today's Pulheimer district Sinthern . In 1200 it was incorporated into the Brauweiler Abbey and later raised to an independent parish in 1801 .

The parish church of St. Pankratius dates from 1865, the Glessen windmill also from the 19th century. The water tower was built between 1934 and 1935.

Glessen came to the city of Bergheim on January 1st, 1975 through the Cologne Act .
