The Gmina Koźmin Wielkopolski (until 1996 Gmina Koźmin ) is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Krotoszyński of the Greater Poland Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name (until 1996 Koźmin ; German Koschmin , 1943-1945 Horleburg ) with about 6500 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the south of the voivodeship, about ten kilometers from the border with the Lower Silesian Voivodeship . The district town of Krotoszyn (Krotoschin) is six kilometers to the south, the voivodeship capital Poznan about 70 kilometers to the northwest. Neighboring communities are Jaraczewo and Jarocin in the north, Dobrzyca in the northeast, Rozdrażew in the southeast, Krotoszyn in the south, Pogorzela in the west and Borek Wielkopolski in the northwest.
The community has an area of 152.7 km², 88 percent of which is used for agriculture and 6 percent for forestry. - The Orla (Horle) is 95 kilometers long .
history
Interrupted by the German occupation during the Second World War from 1919 to 1975, today's municipal area belonged to the Poznan Voivodeship with different layouts. - The German minority was expelled after the World War.
From 1975 to 1998 the municipality came to the Kalisz Voivodeship . The powiat was dissolved during this time. The rural community Koźmin in 1954 repeated in different Gromadas converted and re-created on January 1, 1973rd City and rural municipality Koźmin were merged in 1990/1991 to form urban and rural municipality. Since 1999 it has belonged to the Greater Poland Voivodeship and again to the Powiat Krotoszyński.

traffic
On the Oleśnica – Chojnice railway line, there is little passenger traffic between Krotoszyn and Jarocin (Jarotschin) . The main town has a train station, the Obra Stara stop in the village of Stara Obra is in the north of the municipality.
