The Gmina Krotoszyn [ krɔtɔʃɨn ] is a town-and-country municipality in the Krotoszyński powiat in the Greater Poland Voivodeship in Poland . The seat of the Powiat and the municipality is the city of the same name ( German Krotoschin ) with around 28,900 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the south of the voivodeship, about two to three kilometers from the border with the Lower Silesian Voivodeship . Wroclaw is 60 kilometers southwest, the capital of the voivodeship, Poznan, about 70 kilometers northwest. Neighboring municipalities are the municipalities of Koźmin Wielkopolski , Rozdrażew and Dobrzyca in the north, Raszków in the east, Ostrów Wielkopolski and Sulmierzyce in the southeast, Zduny in the south, Kobylin in the west and Pogorzela in the northwest.
The community has an area of 255.5 km², 64 percent of which is used for agriculture and 28 percent for forestry.
history
Interrupted by the German occupation during the Second World War from 1919 to 1975, today's municipal area belonged to the Poznan Voivodeship with different layouts. - The German minority was expelled after the World War.
From 1975 to 1998 the municipality came to the Kalisz Voivodeship . The powiat was dissolved during this time. The rural community of Krotoszyn was repeatedly converted into various gromadas from 1954 and newly created on January 1, 1973. City and rural municipality Krotoszyn were merged in 1990/1991 to form an urban and rural municipality. This has belonged to the Greater Poland Voivodeship since 1999 and to the re-established Powiat Krotoszyński.

St. Isidore in Biadki is one of the most important modern churches.
traffic
In addition to the Krotoszyn station, the Biadki station, the Dzierżanów and Gorzupia stops, the Durzyn service station and the Osuz operating station exist on the Ostrów Wielkopolski – Leszno railway line . On the Oleśnica – Chojnice railway line, there is little passenger traffic between Krotoszyn and Jarocin (Jarotschin) . Bożacin is a stopping point in the municipality. - The Krotoschin – Pleschen or Krotoszyńska Kolej Dojazdowa district railway was in operation from 1900 to 1986 between Krotoszyn Wąskotorowy ( narrow-gauge station) and Pleszew . In addition to the district town in the municipality, it served the villages of Brzoza and Nowy Folwark.
The nearest international airports are Wroclaw and Poznań-Ławica .
