The Gmina Kobylin [ kɔˈbɨlin ] is a town-and-country municipality in the powiat Krotoszyński of the Greater Poland Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name with about 3250 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the south of the voivodeship, about five kilometers from the border with the Lower Silesian Voivodeship . The district town of Krotoszyn (Krotoschin) is six kilometers to the east, the capital of the voivodeship, Poznan, about 75 kilometers to the north. Neighboring municipalities are the municipalities of Pogorzela in the north, Krotoszyn in the east, Zduny in the southeast, Jutrosin in the southwest and Pępowo in the west.
The community has an area of 112.4 km², 80 percent of which is used for agriculture and 11 percent for forestry.
history
Interrupted by the German occupation during the Second World War from 1919 to 1975, today's municipal area belonged to the Poznan Voivodeship with different layouts. - The German minority was expelled after the World War.
From 1975 to 1998 the municipality came to the Kalisz Voivodeship . The powiat was dissolved during this time. The rural community of Kobylin was converted into various gromadas in 1954 and newly created on January 1, 1973. Urban and rural municipality Kobylin were merged in 1990/1991 to form urban and rural municipality. Since 1999 it has belonged to the Greater Poland Voivodeship and again to the Powiat Krotoszyński.

The city and country community (gmina miejsko-wiejska) Kobylin with 8068 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2019) includes the city itself and 20 villages with school boards (sołectwa):
Other localities are the hamlet of Targoszyce, the Berdychów and Lipówiec settlements, and the Biała Róża and Kuklinów forest settlements.

Listed sights (selection)
The old town of Kobylin is protected as a monument zone in its entirety . The parish church of Smolice is also a special ensemble. The following were entered in the national list of monuments:
- St. Stanislaus Church, 1518 and 18th century in Kobylin
- Parish church in Smolice, 2 pavilions, wall, gate, cemetery, rectory and garden; 1907-1909
- Country chateau (1910–1914) and park in Smolice, 18/19. century
- Wooden church in Starygród, 17th century with a cemetery and two nobility burial chapels.

The municipality maintains a Museum of the Kobylin Land (Muzeum Ziemi Kobylińskiej) .
traffic
The national road DK36 (droga krajowa 36) connects the municipality and its main town with the district town of Krotoszyn in the east and Rawicz in the west. In the latter there is a connection to the S5 expressway ( European route 261 ), in Krotoszyn to the national road DK15 . - There are no provincial roads in the municipality's other road network .
The nearest international airport is Wroclaw .
On the railway line from Krotoszyn to Leszno there is a train station in Kobylin and a stop in Kuklinów. - Kobylin was once the terminus of the Liegnitz-Rawitscher railway , since 1925 of the Polish Rawicz – Kobylin railway.
