The Gmina Szadek [ 'ʃadɛk ] is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Zduńskowolski of the Łódź Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city ​​of the same name with around 1900 inhabitants.

The city of Łódź is about 20 kilometers east, the district town of Zduńska Wola six kilometers south of the municipality. Neighboring communities are the rural communities of Zadzim and Wodzierady in the north and east, as well as the urban-and-rural community of Łask in the southeast, Zduńska Wola in the south and Warta in the west.

The community has an area of ​​almost 152 km², 73 percent of which is used for agriculture and 21 percent for forestry.

The waters in the west of the municipality include the 28 km long Pichna, a tributary of the Warta (Warta) and its tributary Pichna Szadkowicka, which flows through the main town.

history

A rural community Szadek existed since 1870. After Szadek got back the town charter that had been revoked in 1870 in 1919 , it formed its own township. The rural community was replaced by Gromadas from 1954 to 1972 and newly formed in 1973. Urban and rural communities were merged to form urban and rural communities in 1990/1991. The municipality (s) belonged from 1975 to 1998 to the Sieradz Voivodeship , which replaced the Powiat Sieradzki . In January 1979, the community came to the newly cut Łódź Voivodeship and the newly founded Powiat Zduńskowolski.

The voivodship roads DW473 and DW710 run through the municipality from north to south and west to east. They cross in the main town. The nearest international airport is Łódź .

The Szadek service station is located on the Chorzów – Tczew railway line .

education

In Szadek, Krokocice, Prusinowice and Sikucin there is a primary school (szkoła podstawowa). There is a kindergarten in the city.
