The Goetheweg is a long-distance hiking trail from Munich to Verona . It has a length of 623 kilometers (according to other information 660 kilometers). The path follows in the footsteps of the poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's journey to Venice in 1790. Guido Seyerle revived this in 2005 in Goethe's footsteps.
As an example, this Alpine crossing can be done in 24 daily stages, between 12 and 26 km per day.

The hiking trail leads through four countries and runs as follows: Munich → Benediktbeuern → Mittenwald → Innsbruck → Brenner Pass → Sterzing → Brixen → Franzensfeste → Klausen → Lengstein → Bolzano → Lake Kaltern → Salurn → Paganella → Pin-Vallene → Torbole sul Garda → Navene → Torri del Benaco → Verona or vice versa.
The Gotheweg runs between Sterzing and Brixen on the South Tyrolean Way of St. James . The route of the former Brennerbahn is used as a route between Waidbruck and Blumau .
Mountain ranges, mountain ranges and mountains from north to south: Alpine foothills → Limestone Alps → Karwendel Mountains → Central Alps → Dolomites → Southern Pre-Alps → Piave Plain .
