Dream path Munich-Venice

The Traumpfad Munich – Venice is a long-distance hiking trail that Ludwig Graßler described in a book first published in 1977. It leads from Marienplatz in Munich over the Bavarian Prealps and the Karwendel into the Inn Valley. From there you hike into the Tux Alps , cross the main Alpine ridge and continue the path via the Pfunderertal and the Lüsner Alm into the Dolomites . After crossing the Puez Group , the Sella and the Southern Dolomites, the alpine part of the trail ends in Belluno . Similar to the north side of the Alps, there are now two days of hiking through the Belluno pre-Alps and through the plains, until you finally reach St. Mark's Square in Venice after around 28 days of hiking . A total of about 550 km and 20,000 meters of altitude are covered.

The path does not have the status of an official long-distance hiking trail, such as the Dolomites high-altitude trails or the European long-distance hiking trails .

Route and stage division

The route and the stages of the dream path have changed only slightly since the first publication by Ludwig Graßler . The following stages are proposed today.

Further variants are suggested in the first editions of Ludwig Graßler's illustrated book . A route division into 30 stages has also been worked out. The variant of stage 10 to the Olpererhütte is particularly popular , as the descent to the Schlegeis reservoir is no longer necessary thanks to a path that was newly opened in 2006 (no. 502) .

The ridge variant of stages 8 and 9 is also often climbed. The Glungezerhütte can be reached from Hall either on foot or by cable car via Tulfes and the Tulfeinalm . From there, a variant of the Via Alpina leads over the peaks of the Glungezer , the Kreuzspitze and the Grünbergspitze to the Naviser Jöchl .

The descent to Rifugio Furio Bianchet in the 22nd stage is chosen by many hikers who want to avoid the via ferrata on the descent to Belluno .
