The Goldbach is a 7 km long, left or northwest tributary of the Ems in the Schwalm-Eder district , northern Hesse ( Germany ).

Course and catchment area

The Goldbach rises in the extreme southeast of the Habichtswald Nature Park south of the Langenberge . Its source is in the Gudensberg district in an agricultural area between the Günthersberg in the north and the Nenkel in the southwest at about 231  m above sea level. NN . The stream is fed by the Buchenborn spring a little below its origin , which is located to the north near the basalt works of Günthersberg.

At the beginning, the Goldbach flows a little to the east, and then passes under the federal motorway 49 at the Gudensberg junction , where it leaves the nature park. From now on it runs south through the Gudensberg core town, in which it passes the Schloßberg with the ruins of the Obernburg to the east.

Below the city center, the Goldbach continues to flow south through fields and meadows and southwest of Maderstein through the Gudensberg district of Maden . It leaves the village in a canal south-south-west, in order to then take up the water of the 1.7 km long brook from the Henkelborn and from there it runs east-south-east for the last part of its lower course.

Then the Goldbach flows into the Felsberg district and immediately after crossing under the federal road 254 north-northeast of the district of Niedervorschütz , through which it does not run, to about 162  m above sea level. NN in there from the west flowing Eder influx Ems to lead .

The catchment area of the Goldbach covers 15.189 km².
