The rap in the song is from Freedom Williams and the vocals from Martha Wash . In 1994 Martha Wash and the other members of C + C Music Factory sued producers Robert Clivillés and David Cole because not all of the band's members were included in the cast list for the debut album. An agreement was reached out of court.
