Nexus One (PB99100) is a smartphone that was introduced to the public by Google on January 5, 2010 . The device was built by the HTC Corporation . In addition to English and German, it fully supports four other languages. In Germany it was sold for a short time via Vodafone (without SIM lock), but is no longer available. In addition, the Nexus One was sold as the third Android developer smartphone (Android Dev Phone 3).

In May 2010, sales of the Nexus One via its own online shop were stopped. However, it was initially still sold for developers and all partners. One reason for the sales stop are the weak sales figures for the Nexus One. According to the market research company Flurry, only 135,000 Google phones were sold in the first 74 days after the market launch. Compared to this, the Apple iPhone became a blockbuster with one million devices sold in the same period. The Motorola Droid (Milestone), which like the Nexus One is also equipped with Android OS, was even sold 1.05 million times in the first two and a half months.

The successor with the name Nexus S came onto the market in Europe around February / March 2011 and has now been produced by Samsung .

Furnishing

In the Nexus One is a 1-GHz working Snapdragon - processor from Qualcomm . At the time of its introduction, it supports the latest cellular standards, can be networked via W-LAN and Bluetooth and has a 5-megapixel camera. The device was delivered with Android version 2.1, later upgradeable to version 2.3.6. The distribution takes place via over-the-air update . The multi-touch -enabled screen ( AMOLED or LCD) has a diagonal of 9.4 cm (3.7 ") and a resolution of 800 × 480 pixels. The equipment of the Nexus One is similar to the HTC Desire very much. In contrast to HTC Desire, the Nexus One has a second microphone to record an interference signal reference in order to achieve an efficient reduction of the disturbing background noise together with the primary microphone. The luminous trackball is also striking. It can display any RGB colors and thus the receipt of SMS messages and signal e-mail.

features

The phone was delivered with Android version 2.1 ( Eclair ). According to Google, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) will not be available because the hardware is too old. From today's perspective, the insufficient internal memory is a disadvantage. With Android 2.3, approx. 200 MB are available. Many Google applications do not support App2SD and so cannot be transferred to the SD card. Applications such as Facebook , Twitter and QuickOffice are preinstalled on the phone , which cannot be easily removed and also take up internal memory.
