Gottlob Georg Friedrich Münsinger (born February 19, 1873 in Schafhausen , † February 25, 1949 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1946 to 1949 he was district mayor of the Spandau district of Berlin. In 1948 he was awarded the title of city ​​elder in Berlin.

Life and political career

Münsinger completed elementary school and learned the trade of toolmaker. After his military service, he went on a journey as a journeyman through Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. At an early stage he became a union member and from 1908 was the managing director of the German Metalworkers' Association (DMV) in Rathenow , where he was also a member of the city council. Münsinger continued his work for the DMV from 1912 after moving to Cologne.

In 1914, Münsinger was drafted into the army, but returned to professional life in 1917 because the Siemens company requested him for the Wernerwerk in Berlin-Siemensstadt . At the end of 1918, he became a member of the Siemens & Halske Supervisory Board as an employee representative . In 1919 he was elected to the city ​​council of Berlin for the SPD . From 1922 until the “ seizure of power ” by the National Socialists , he was a city councilor in Berlin-Spandau.

Gottlob Münsinger became district mayor of Spandau in 1946 and held this office until 1949.

After his death, Münsinger was given an honorary grave by the city of Berlin in the mayor's grove at the In den Kisseln cemetery . A street and a park in Spandau are named after him.
