Ernst Liesegang

Ernst Liesegang (born January 31, 1900 in Lichtenberg near Berlin, † July 9, 1968 in Berlin ) was a Berlin local politician ( SPD ).

Ernst Liesegang attended a primary school and a teacher training college . He then attended the Prussian University for Physical Education and was initially employed in 1922 and later a freelance sales representative . In 1940 he was drafted into the police service and in 1945 was taken prisoner by the Soviets .

After the Second World War , Liesegang returned to Berlin and became the owner of a food wholesaler in Berlin-Spandau . In the Berlin election in 1948 , he was elected to the District Assembly (BVV) in the Spandau district, from 1950 as head of BVV Spandau. In the 1958 election , Liesegang was initially elected to the Berlin House of Representatives, but resigned after six weeks because he had been elected district mayor by BVV Spandau . In 1965 he left for reasons of age, the new district mayor was then Klaus Bodin .

Honors

In 1965 Liesegang was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. A plaque commemorates him on the building of the Spandau District Office . In Kladow , a riverside path on the Lower Havel was named after him.
