Klaus Bodin

Klaus Bodin (born October 12, 1919 in Spandau ; † July 4, 2012 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Live and act

Bodin passed his Abitur in 1937 at the Kant grammar school in Spandau. He decided to train in agriculture on the family farm of his father's family, which he completed in 1939. Then he took part in the attack on Poland as a member of the Reich Labor Service . During his military service from 1940 to 1945 he was posted to study medicine. He completed his physics in Leipzig in 1942 and passed the state examination in Berlin in spring 1945. Afterwards he worked as an assistant doctor in the internal department of the Spandau Municipal Hospital and was a medical assistant at the AOK from 1951 .

In 1958 Bodin, who had been a member of the SPD since July 1945, was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives through a direct mandate , to which he belonged until 1965. In January 1965 he was elected district mayor in Spandau , which is why he gave up his mandate. As district mayor, he resigned again in 1967, as he was appointed Senator for Labor, Health and Social Affairs by the new Governing Mayor Schütz . However, he was dismissed from this office after the 1971 election. From 1972 to 1979 he was again a member of the Berlin House of Representatives, after which he withdrew from active politics.

Honors

He was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2008 Bodin was honored with the award " City Elder of Berlin ".
