Graben is a small town on the Zeller or Irrsee in Upper Austria and belongs to the municipality of Oberhofen am Irrsee in the Vöcklabruck district .

geography

The place is located 27½ kilometers southwest of Vöcklabruck , 7½ kilometers southeast of Straßwalchen , 3 kilometers south of the municipal capital Oberhofen am Irrsee and 2½ kilometers north of Zell am Moos .

The Rotte Graben is slightly elevated above the lake, 400 meters from the shore, at around 570  m above sea level. A. Height at the foot of the Schoibernberg  ( 883  m above sea level ). Here the Gabenbach flows from the lower summit of the Gommersberg  ( 803  m above sea level ) to the lake.

The location of Graben only includes 4 addresses, one of which ( Unterwand  27) already belongs to Zell am Moos . They are located along the B154  Mondsee Straße (Straßwalchen / B1 to Mondsee and the A1 ). There are several bathing huts on the lakeshore.

Infrastructure and nature

The moss meadows on the east bank of the Irrsee between Ramsau and Graben are part of the Irrsee-Moore nature reserve . The banks of the Irrsee are among the best preserved natural areas of this type in the Salzkammergut. This southern section on the east bank includes some very valuable fen and Steifseggenried areas.

The valley route of the long-distance hiking trail Via Nova (5th section Mattsee via Oberhofen - Mondsee and on to St. Wolfgang ) leads through the village . From Laiter the marking goes to Ramsau on the B154, but a path also leads upstream above Laiter-Roid - Nagendorf. From there a path leads towards Schweibern - Haslau and up to Gommersberg and Schoibernberg.
