history

The first reliable mention of the village of Granheim is documented in 1208. A lower nobility called themselves after the Upper Swabian town. They were servants of the Lords of Steusslingen who could be proven until the middle of the 13th century. From the property of the Counts of Helfenstein and the Wöllwarth family, Granheim became that of the Lords of Speth . They also acquired the ownership shares of the Bichishausen Truchsessen . Granheim remained in their hands until the 19th century. The castle on the road to Frankenhofen, which was assigned to the knightly canton of Danube , was built around 1776. In 1805 this property fell to Württemberg.

The church and the parish of Granheim were first mentioned in 1208, the church saint St. Martin in 1281. The current parish church of Granheim was built at the end of the 17th century. The tower, however, still has Gothic forms. The small chapel "on the Halde" was built in 1829 by the Lords of Speth.

On January 1, 1974, Granheim was incorporated into Ehingen. The municipality previously had an area of 11.97 km².
