history

At the beginning of the 12th century, the place name "Dächingen" can be found for the first time in the Zwiefalter Chronicle . A Berthold von Dächingen is documented from the year 1263 to the year 1271. He is said to have been a servant of the Count von Wartstein . To the south of Dächingen was Hochdorf Castle, which was destroyed by the Ulmers in 1387 during the city war .

Since 1270 Dächingen was a fiefdom of the Counts of Württemberg, as part of the rule of the Lords of Steusslingen. The latter enfeoffed the lords of Freyberg with the place in the 14th century , later citizens of Ulm and Ehingen did the same. In 1479 and 1507 Dächingen came to the Heilig-Geist-Spital in Ehingen. Dächingen belonged to the Oberamt Ehingen in 1806; In 1820 the place received its own mayor. Previously, Dächingen was administered from Altsteusslingen .

The reed chapel - east of the town center - was mentioned in 1465. It was a branch of the parish Altsteusslingen. The chapel called “Maria im Elend” became a popular destination for pilgrimages. The current church in the center of the village was established in 1848 in the former tithe barn . The tower of the church dates from 1993/94.

On December 1, 1973 Dächingen was incorporated into Ehingen.
