Volkersheim is a suburb of the large district town of Ehingen (Danube) in the Alb-Danube district in Baden-Württemberg . The village was incorporated into Ehingen in 1973. The mayor is currently (2019) Sabine Hecht.

history

Volkersheim is first mentioned in 1245 as the eponymous seat of a servant of the Counts of Berg and the Counts of Wartstein . A castle has been proven in 1411. Later the place belonged to the Lords of Gundelfingen . In 1411 Dietrich von Ehestetten, who lived in Nasgenstadt and was a fiefdom of Gundelfinger, sold the village to the Heilig-Geist-Spital in Biberach. In 1803 Volkersheim came to Baden together with Biberach, and in 1806 to the Kingdom of Württemberg . Since 1938 it has belonged to the district of Ehingen .

The chapel was built in the second half of the 18th century. It is dedicated to Saint Wendelin. Volkersheim was incorporated into Ehingen on January 1, 1973 and is now one of 17 suburbs there.
