Here he became a member of Three Count , a comedy tag team , which was a parody of a boy group that was very popular at the time and consisted of himself, Moore and Evan Karagias . The three first appeared on Thunder on December 23, 1999.

At the Superbrawl 2000 the three defeated Norman Smiley in a handicap match. On February 28, defeated three count Brian Knobbs and were thus WCW Hardcore Champion (s) . On November 1, 2000, they fell out during a match against the Jung Dragons and the team was disbanded. Helms was able to convince with his wrestling achievements and got a singles push that helped him to win the WCW Cruiserweight Championship .

World Wrestling Federation (WWE)

After WCW was taken over by the then World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) in March 2001, Helms also worked there and got the very popular gimmick of the comic hero Hurricane Helms (later called The Hurricane ). He won the European Championship in August and lost it again in October.

Afterwards Helms was seen in the team with Lance Storm , they got chances for the WCW World Tag Team Championship , which however could not be used. In 2000 he was allowed to win the WWF Hardcore Championship , which he lost again after a few minutes due to the 24/7 rule. After WWF renamed itself WWE and split it up into two shows, Raw and SmackDown , Helms was active in the latter. Here he won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and was sent to Raw at the end of the year.

At Raw, Helms teamed up with Kane in September 2002 to win the World Tag Team Championships until they had to give him up again in October. At the end of 2003, a tag team was formed with him and Rosey , who also played a comic hero. In May 2005 they won the Tag Team Championships . In October Helms surprisingly attacked Rosey, took off his mask and became Gregory Helms . Until the end of 2005 he was only active in the B-Show Heat , even though he was promised a push .

At the Royal Rumble 2006 Helms surprisingly won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and switched to Smackdown . He was injured a short time later and had to take a few weeks off, but came back earlier than expected. After the longest reign as cruiserweight champion in the WWE, Helms lost the title after over a year to Chavo Guerrero in a cruiserweight invitational match at the WWE No Way Out PPV.

After that, Helms paused due to a fractured cervical vertebra. On August 31, 2007, his name appeared on a list of wrestlers alleged to have received doping substances. Since he was injured at the time, he was not suspended for 30 days as usual, but had to forego a month's salary. On December 5th at the Smackdown Edition, Helms made his comeback with a win over MVP . He then started a feud with United States Champion Shelton Benjamin . On April 16, 2009 he was allowed to switch to ECW as part of the WWE Draft , where he took up his The Hurricane gimmick again in August 2009. At the same time he returned as an interviewer. Helms feuded against Paul Burchill and Katie Lea , who wanted to prove that Gregory Helms is The Hurricane. After that he feuded against Zack Ryder . After WWE NXT replaced ECW, Helms was fired from WWE on February 26, 2010. He came back at the 2018 Royal Rumble Match, but was soon eliminated by John Cena.
