Grigory Ivanovich Nossow

Grigori Iwanowitsch Nossow ( Russian Григорий Иванович Носов ; * 5th November July / 18 November  1905 greg. In Kataw-Ivanovsk ; † August 7, 1951 in Kislowodsk ) was a Russian metallurgist .

Life

Nossov's father and grandfather worked in the Kataw-Ivanovsk metallurgical plant . Nosov began in 1921 in Ust-Katawer waggon a locksmith apprenticeship . He then studied at the RabFak of the Ufa Institute with a degree in 1925. He continued to study at the Tomsk Technological Institute with a degree in 1930 as an engineer- metallurgist. This was followed by an aspirantur at the Siberian Metallurgical Institute in Novokuznetsk at the Chair of Metallurgy and Steel . At the same time he taught there and headed the laboratory for coal and steel analysis .

In 1932 Nossow became a master and chief engineer of the Kuznetsk Metallurgical Combine (KMK) in Novokuznetsk . In 1939 he became chief engineer of the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Stalin Combine (MMK). In 1940 he took over the post of director of the MMK from PI Korobow . Under his leadership, 2 blast furnaces , 4 coke batteries , 5 Siemens-Martin furnaces and many other special facilities were built. He introduced new technologies and armored steel products for the army. From domestic ores was ferromanganese and ferrosilicon produced.

After the German-Soviet War , Nossow became a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1946 . In the summer of 1951 he took his first vacation after the war and traveled with his wife to Kislovodsk, where he died. His coffin was taken to the Magnitogorsk Culture Palace of Metallurgists, where for two days tens of thousands of Magnitogorskern as well as representatives of the KMK, NTMK , Belorezker and other steelworks and representatives of the state said goodbye to him. The Magnitogorsk Institute for Mining Science and Metallurgy was now named Nossov.
