The Gruppa A 1939 was the fourth season of the highest Soviet football league. It began on May 12th and ended on November 12th, 1939.

Defending champion Spartak Moscow won the Soviet football championship for the third time with four points ahead of Dinamo Tiflis and by winning the cup the double was repeated.
