The Pervaya Gruppa A 1969 was the 31st season of the highest Soviet football league. It began on April 4 and ended on November 25, 1969.

Spartak Moscow won the Soviet football championship for the ninth time by four points ahead of defending champions Dynamo Kiev.

mode

The season was conducted in a two-tier format. The 20 teams initially played against each other twice in two groups of ten teams each. After this phase, the seven best clubs qualified for the championship round, the last three of both groups played in the relegation round. The last four teams were relegated.
