The Wysschaja Liga 1990 was the 53rd and penultimate season of the highest Soviet football league. It started on March 1 and ended on October 20, 1990.

Dynamo Kiev won the Soviet football championship for the 13th time with two points ahead of CSKA Moscow.

After the withdrawal of the Lithuanian and Georgian clubs, the league consisted of only 13 teams. These played against each other twice. The bottom of the table played in relegation against relegation.
