The Vysschaya League in 1971 was the 33rd season of the highest Soviet football league. It began on April 8th and ended on November 15th, 1971.

Dynamo Kiev won the Soviet football championship for the fifth time with nine points ahead of Ararat Yerevan. Defending champion CSKA Moscow ended up in 12th place.
