The Vysschaya League in 1991 was the 54th and final season of the highest Soviet football league. It started on March 10th and ended on November 2nd, 1991.
CSKA Moscow won the Soviet football championship for the seventh time with two points ahead of Spartak Moscow.

After the season
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the clubs continued to play in their national leagues. The six Russian clubs played in the Premier League , the six Ukrainian clubs started in the Wyschtscha Liha , the Belarusian representative in the Wyschejschaja Liha . The two Uzbek teams moved to the Uzbek League , Pamir Dushanbe to the Tajik Vysschaya League .
