Gudrun Biffl (* 22 January 1949 in Vöcklabruck as Gudrun Schobesberger ) is an Austrian economist. From 2008 to September 2017 she was university professor for migration , integration and security at Danube University Krems .

Life

From 1959 Biffl attended the Realgymnasium in Erlgasse in Vienna 12 , where she graduated in 1967 . She then studied commercial science at the University for World Trade in Vienna , completing her degree in 1972 as a Magistra. At the Institute for Higher Studies (IHS) in Vienna, she did postgraduate training in 1972/73 . In 1973 she began a PhD at Newcastle University , where she obtained a Ph.D. acquired. From 1975 to the beginning of 2009 she was a research assistant at the Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO). 1993 habilitation them at the Vienna University of Economics in the field of labor economics and labor market policy .

In 2008 she took over the chair for migration, integration and security at Danube University Krems. From 2010 to 2015 she was also the dean of the Faculty of Economics and Globalization. Since 2009 she has been a member of the Statistical Council of Statistics Austria was, first as Presidential deputy, since 2015 as its Chairman for the period 2015 to 2020. From 2008 to 2012 she also a member of the University Council of the University of Linz . She held visiting professorships at the University of Canterbury and the University of Melbourne as well as the University of Graz , and gave lectures at the Hunan University , the University of Salzburg , the Technical University of Vienna , the Vienna University of Economics and the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland .

In September 2017, Mathias Czaika succeeded her as head of the Department for Migration and Globalization at Danube University Krems.
