Gudrun Sjödén (born June 5, 1941 in Östhammar , Norra Uppland ) is a Swedish fashion designer .

Gudrun Sjödén grew up in Julita ( Södermanland ) and now lives with her husband in the Stockholm district of Södermalm -
From 1958 to 1963 she studied textile and fashion design at the Stockholm Art School in Konstfack . She worked as a designer for Ivar Wahl and as a fashion journalist for the women's magazines Femina and Damernas Värld . In 1974 her first own collection was launched in Scandinavia . Together with her husband, she opened her first shop on Regeringsgatan in Stockholm in 1976 , the company Gudrun Sjödén Design AB .
Sjödén's business idea was brightly colored fashion and furnishing textiles with a personal expression, with sustainable design in pure natural materials forming the basis of her fashion concept. In addition, the company attaches great importance to environmentally conscious and environmentally friendly production. In 2006 Sjödén launched the “Gudruns Gute Tat” project, whereby the proceeds from the sale of certain items from the Christmas catalog benefit organizations or projects that are particularly dear to Sjödén.
In 2012 she designed her own television program on the Swedish radio station “P1” and gave a speech at the New York Parsons School of Design about her environmental commitment.
Your design is now sold in 50 countries around the world, both in its own stores and via mail order and web shops. The company employed over 400 people in 2016 and has six stores in Sweden ( Stockholm , Gothenburg and Malmö ), two in Oslo and one each in Copenhagen , Helsinki , London and New York City . It is also represented in eleven cities in Germany ( Berlin , Frankfurt am Main , Freiburg im Breisgau , Hamburg , Cologne , Leipzig , Munich , Münster , Nuremberg , Stuttgart and Zirndorf ).
In July 2016 it was announced that Sjödén had sold 30% of the shares in their company to the Swedish investment company Ratos , with an option for Ratos to acquire a further 40% of the shares in 2018. In September 2018, however, Ratos sold the shares back to Sjödén.
Gudrun Sjödén is married to the photographer Björn Sjödén and has one son.
