Reviews

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the film was not a remake of the film of the same name by Joseph H. Lewis from 1949, but its "reinterpretation". The characters and the relationships between them are "modernized". The film is basically a "love story", but it is not one of those "nice", "romantic" films where the audience can be sure that everything will turn out well. The biggest weakness of the film is its tendency to "self-irony". Berardinelli praised the portrayal of Drew Barrymore.
