Gunnar Fehlau

Gunnar Fehlau (* 1973 in Dortmund ) is a German specialist journalist and author on the subject of " bicycles ".

Life

Gunnar Fehlau was already working as a teenager at the end of the 1980s in Klaus Schröder's bike shop in Bergisch Gladbach , a shop of the Association of Self-Managed Bicycle Companies (VSF) . After graduating from high school, he studied political science , journalism and psychology in Leipzig and Brighton , completing a Magister Artium (MA) . Before and during his studies he worked as a freelancer for German-language and international publications and has been working in professional journalism on the subject of "bicycles" since 1990. He has written for magazines, newspapers and publishers, including Bild , Tour , Die Zeit , PM Magazin and aktiv cycling .

After graduating, he was head of the corporate communication and marketing department at bicycle manufacturer riese und müller GmbH for several years and from 2003 to 2006 he was head of marketing and communication at VSF. For design and implementation of the commemorative 20 Reasons against the VSF he was awarded the 2006 red dot design award , the iF communication design award and the Best of Corporate Publishing Award (BCP) Award.

Since 2003 Fehlau has been running the press service bicycle (pd-f) that he founded. With his press service he is a member of the VSF. The branch information service of 30 clubs, institutions, companies and organizations has set itself the task of making the good bicycle and its use more public. As a lecturer and speaker with a focus on communication strategies and organization as well as agenda setting and public relations work for small companies, he has worked at the journalism center for business and administration, the communications association, Siemens and the journalist center Haus Busch .

An active cyclist himself, Fehlau has ridden numerous cycling marathons . He is a ten-time “finisher” of the Norwegian Styrkeprøven (as of 2004) and in 2007 completed the 1229 kilometers of the Paris – Brest – Paris route almost non-stop . In 2009 he launched a “Grenzsteintrophy”, for which he covered almost 1300 kilometers on the mountain bike along the Kolonnenweg along the former inner-German border .

He is also involved in product development - for example as a co-inventor of the Aeroproject recumbent bike , which was created in 1989 in collaboration with Klaus Schröder and Manfred Harig in Bergisch Gladbach and was assembled and sold in the local bike shop - and is involved in specialist juries, including those of the Eurobike Design Award 2009 .

Gunnar Fehlau is the father of two sons. He lives and works in Göttingen .
