Guram Perselidze

Guram Perselidze (also: Guram Pherselidse , Georgian გურამ ფერსელიძე ; born October 16, 1985 in Chelwachauri ) is a Georgian wrestler . He starts in the heavyweight division in Greco-Roman style .

Career

Guram Perselidze starts in the Greco-Roman style. He is 1.90 meters tall and heavyweight (weight class up to 120 kg body weight). He has been practicing this sport since 2000 and is trained by Vaja Kravyashvili at the Georgian Wrestling Association's center in Tbilisi .

Perselidze has been used at international championships since 2008. The first start was at the European Championships in Tampere , where he finished 8th after beating Jani Kortesmäki, Finland and losing to Yannick Sczcepanski , France . Also in the following championships he could not place himself in the front field, although he managed to win again against good opponents. At his last start at an international championship, the 2012 European Championship in Belgrade , he came in 10th place.

Guram Perselidze, on the other hand, did very well in the qualifying tournaments for the 2012 Olympic Games in London . Already at the tournament in Taiyuan / China he took a good 5th place, which was not enough to be allowed to start in London. But he won this at the last qualifying tournament in Helsinki , where he finished 2nd behind Chassan Barojew , Russia . In London, Guram Perselidsde took 5th place. He won over Andres Ayub Valenzuela, Chile, then lost to the Olympic champion and multiple world champion Mijaín López from Kube, won over Abdelrahman AyubYehya El Tarabily, Egypt and had to narrowly defeat the reigning world champion Rıza Kayaalp from Turkey in the decisive battle for an Olympic bronze medal give.

In 2013 he won a bronze medal at the European Championships in Tbilisi with victories over Heiki Nabi , Estonia, Marko Kocevic, Croatia, David Lengyel, Hungary, another defeat against Rıza Kayaalp and a victory over Josif Tschugoschwili , Belarus. He did not start at the 2013 World Cup in Budapest.
