The grammar school Ursulaschule , also known as the Ursulaschule Osnabrück , is a state-recognized, private , catholic grammar school in Osnabrück and is sponsored by the school foundation in the Diocese of Osnabrück for pupils from grades 5 to 13. history
The Ursulaschule grammar school was founded on October 2, 1865. At the request of the then Bishop Paulus Melchers , three sisters from the Ursuline mother house in Dorsten taught a total of 34 pupils in three classrooms. The school survived hostility by Bismarck's Kulturkampf policy in the years after 1875, the persecution by the Gestapo in the era of National Socialism and the significant destruction caused by an Allied bombing raid in 1945. The Ursula School was originally a girls' school ; in 1984 the first mixed year graduated from high school . In addition to the Ursulines, there were also the Franciscans , who took over responsibility at the Ursulaschule in the 1978/1979 school year until they retired from active school service in 2000. The formative school director was the Franciscan Father Werinhard Einhorn (1934–2013) from 1982 to 1999, who brought the Franciscan guidelines to the school; Above all, it is thanks to his commitment that the Ursulaschule was not closed in 1991 - as intended by Osnabrück Bishop Ludwig Averkamp . Catholic private school
The school is officially recognized, but is subject to the Diocese of Osnabrück . The student council of the Ursulaschule consists of 15 students from grades 5–12 and 1–2 supervising teachers.
