The Höheberg , also called Hünenberg , is 520.8 m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Upper Field near Dieterode in the Thuringian district of Eichsfeld .
Geographical location
The Höheberg is located in the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park on the edge of the Obereichsfelder Muschelkalkplatte in the district of the municipalities of Krombach , Dieterode and Armaments . Its summit is 1.1 km east of Dieterode and 9 km south of Heilbad Heiligenstadt . The mountain can be reached directly via the state road 2023 Kalteneber -Dieterode. The former Heiligenstadt – Schwebda railway line was led from the Dieterode train station below the Höheberg over a steep climb to Fürstenhagen .

The mountain is accessible from all surrounding places via hiking trails. On the southwestern edge of the hilltop there is a several hundred meter long edge made of shell limestone, the so-called Dieteröder cliffs . To the east and north is the predominantly agricultural plateau of the Obereichsfelder Höhe.
A nature trail leads from the visitor center "Alter Wasserturm" of the nature park administration Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal in Fürstenhagen to the Dieteröder cliffs. On the south-sloping mountain slopes one can find rare plant species such as the silver thistle, the gentian and various orchids.

From the edge of the Dieteröder cliffs you have a good view over the Südeichsfeld with the Hülfensberg and the Gobert and the north-east Hessian mountains with the Ringgau , the Hohen Meißner and the Kaufunger Wald . On a clear day you can see the western Thuringian Forest with the Inselsberg and individual peaks of the Rhön in the south . From the plateau on the east side of the mountain you have a view over the heights of the Upper Eichsfeld to the Upper Harz with the Brocken .
