The Höherberg is a 242  m above sea level. NHN high elevation in the district of Göttingen .

Location and surroundings

The Höherberg is located in the middle of the Goldenen Mark , a fertile landscape in the Untereichsfeld about 11 kilometers northwest of Duderstadt . Adjacent places are Wollbrandshausen , Gieboldehausen , Bilshausen and Lake Constance , the highest point being in the municipality of Wollbrandshausen. Federal road 27 runs immediately to the south .

From here there is a beautiful view of the landscape of the Eichsfeld Basin and the adjacent mountain ranges, such as the Göttingen Forest , the Ohm Mountains and the Rotenberg , and in good weather even as far as the Harz Mountains .

particularities

The pilgrimage chapel to the Fourteen Holy Helpers has been on the Höherberg since 1856 . A way of the cross with 14 stations leads to this chapel from Wollbrandshausen and Bodensee .

The Eichsfeld hiking trail runs over the mountain . Other facilities on the Höherberg are a drinking water reservoir and a cell phone mast. To increase the radio range , an antenna mast was also built for BOS radio traffic .
