The port of Kelheim-Saal is a freight port in the district of Kelheim an der Donau .
The port of Kelheim-Saal is located at Danube kilometer 2411 on the right and consists of a port basin parallel to the Danube in an east-west orientation with a length of 675 m and a 120 m turning basin in the entrance area. It is operated by the port association in the Kelheim district . Transport-intensive companies have set up shop along the transshipment banks. The total length of the transhipment bank of the quays is about 1200 m. Five port cranes are available there. The port is on the station hall of the railway line Regensburg-Ingolstadt to the rail network of the Deutsche Bahn connected. There are RoRo ramps for loading cars onto ships and cars onto trains. On the north quay, a heavy-duty slab measuring 60 m × 20 m is available for handling heavy and bulky goods.
In 2013, the port of Kelheim, with 401,879 t t of ship goods traffic, accounted for 5.19% of ship goods traffic in Bavaria, which in 2013 totaled 7,742,816 t.
history
The port of Kelheim was built in October 1978. In this first expansion stage there was a quay with a 200 m transhipment bank length. In the second stage, the quays were extended to a length of 750 m. The expansion to the current structure was carried out with the third expansion stage, which was completed in 2008.
In 2013, the port of Kelheim, with 401,879 t of ship freight traffic, accounted for 5.19% of ship goods traffic in Bavaria, which in 2013 totaled 7,742,816 t.

Riedenburg / Haidhof land
The administration union ports in Kelheim operates the Main-Danube Canal also the border Riedenburg / Haidhof at MDK km 149,70. There is a 180 m long quay here.
Leisure and passenger shipping
There is a separate area for excursion and passenger shipping at Danube kilometer 2414.5 on the left with bus parking spaces and public transport connections. For small vehicles there is a sport boat harbor at Danube kilometer 2410.2 on the right.
environment
In spring 2016, an infestation by the Asian longhorn beetle was found in maple trees . On April 11th, 21 trees were felled and disposed of. Further felling in the vicinity of the site is to take place.
