Ahn Hee-yeon (born May 1, 1992 in Seoul ), better known as Hani , is a South Korean singer and member of the girl group EXID .

Life

Prior to her debut with EXID, Hani was under contract with JYP Entertainment . At that time the founding of a new girl group with her, Hyolyn from Sistar , Song Ji-eun from Secret and Uji from Bestie was under consideration. However, JYP saw no potential in Hani and so she had to leave the label. She first studied in China for a year . Hani has an intelligence quotient of 145 and was considering studying psychology at the time in order to later become a psychologist .

Hani made her debut as a singer in the girl group EXID on February 15, 2012 with the release of the single Whoz That Girl . A year later, in February 2013, the Dasoni subgroup (now SoljiHani) was founded. A duo of Hani and EXID colleague Heo Sol-ji. The single Goodbye was released on February 15, 2013.

In August 2014 EXID released the song Up & Down . This was initially a failure and did not even reach one of the top hundred places on the Gaon charts . However, a video of Hani's performance recorded by a fan in November went viral and helped the song become popular. As of November 2018, the fan video had almost 28 million views on Youtube .

In 2015, she appeared in Mad Clown's music video for the song Fire and joined the cast of the JTBC variety show Off to School . Hani also presented the beauty show A Style For You together with Kim Heechul , Gu Ha-ra and Yoon Bo-ra . She also had a cameo in Mockumentary Producer .

On January 19, 2017, Hani collaborated with Luna from f (x) and Solar from Mamamoo for the song Honey Bee by producer Park Geun-tae. In May 2019 it was announced that Hani will not renew the contract with her agency Banana Culture.

In May 2019, Hani left the Banana Culture agency, which is behind the girl group EXID. The group then paused all activities indefinitely. Hani has since focused on acting and performs under her real name. She played her first leading role in early 2020 in the XX web series .

In 2020 she played the leading role in White Crow by Jang Cheol-soo as part of the SF8 film series project .
