Hanna Caspian (born December 9, 1964 in Dinslaken ; actually Regina Gärtner ) is a German author who is best known for her historical novels . With their good Greifenau - trilogy she reached the bestseller list .

Life

Hanna Caspian grew up in Alpen on the Lower Rhine , went to school in Xanten and after graduating from high school in Aachen studied German , political science and initially Romance studies at RWTH Aachen University . After completing her master's degree, she was a press officer at Euregio Maas-Rhein . She later worked as a press and advertising assistant at the Spektrum Akademischer Verlag . After an interim position as PR manager for cinema films in Aachen , she moved to the Cologne Federal Gazette Publishing House , where she set up and managed the advertising marketing department.

In 2000, Caspian, then still called Regina Gärtner, published her first book, the thriller Tödliche Creation, in Berlin's Espresso Verlag . In 2013, Heyne Verlag published her first historical novel Under the South Sea Moon , which made her commercial breakthrough. As in the following works, Caspian deals with lesser-known aspects of German history. In Unter dem Südseemond, for example, she tells the story of the German South Seas colony of Samoa . The follow-up novel The Shine of South Sea Shells deals with the time of the occupation of German Samoa by the New Zealanders during the First World War and tells of how the Germans fared in Australia during this time.

For her metahistorical novel Die Kirschvilla , published in 2016 , she first adopted the pseudonym Hanna Caspian. Shortly afterwards the author switched to Droemer-Knaur . From November 2018, the three novels of her Gut Greifenau trilogy were published at short intervals, timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the end of the German monarchy and the November Revolution . The trilogy takes place between 1913 and 1919 and ends on the first day of the Weimar Republic. All three volumes appeared in the SPIEGEL bestseller list , with the third volume Caspian made it into the top ten. The story will continue with the volume Goldsturm to be released in April 2020 .

For many years, the author was a member of the Syndicate and Murderous Sisters' associations . Today she is a member of DeLiA and Montségur .

Hanna Caspian is married to the former TV presenter Peter Dahmen ( QVC , HSE24 ) and lives in the north of Cologne.
