Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus is a double album by Miley Cyrus and her series character Hannah Montana . It was released on June 26, 2007 on Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records . In the two-CD album, the first CD is assigned to Hannah Montana, the second to Miley Cyrus.

Background and origin

The album was released on June 26, 2007 on the Hollywood Records and Walt Disney Records labels . The reason for the release on two labels was that Miley Cyrus had signed a contract with Hollywood Records, but the music for the series Hannah Montana appeared on Walt Disney Records. Both record labels are part of The Walt Disney Company , which is why such a collaboration is not uncommon.

In the biography Living the Dream , Cyrus explains how it came about: " I do my own stuff on the CD - a little country and pop and rock and a little bluegrass. I play the guitar .. and now I'm pretty excited because everyone knows Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana, but Miley Cyrus, the person who is not behind it. I'm curious what people will think of my own songs. They will hear personal stories and discover me in these songs. Somehow I'm nervous, because some things are really quite personal ".

Music genre

The record label describes the style as pop-rock, teen-pop and dance-pop. Some of the songs on CD 2 Meet Miley Cyrus contain borrowings from other styles: Start all over with Southern / Roots Rock, See You Again with Country Pop Rock and Let's Dance with Latino Pop with a Caribbean twist.

Singles

I miss you is a song that Miley Cyrus wrote for her terminally ill grandfather Ron Cyrus . She wanted to finish it before he died so that she could play it to her grandfather. But the cancer was faster. The song was released as a promotional single on June 26, 2007 and landed at number 27 in the United States. The first excerpts of the songcould be heardin an episode of the first season, On a Secret Mission . In a background scene at Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert you can see Cyrus teaching her father the song.

See You Again is a rocky feel-good song with country influences and was released on October 19, 2007. The song was a great success for the very young artist. It climbed to number 10 on the US charts and lasted for 16 weeks. In the text passage My best friend Lesley said 'Oh She's just bein' Miley! is Cyrus' current ex-girlfriend Lesley Patterson, with whom she was a cheerleader on the Tennessee Allstars team.

Start All Over is a Southern / Roots-Rock-oriented, fast (pop) rock song that was released on March 14, 2008. This song wasn't nearly as successful as See you again , it only landed at number 68 and fell off the charts after 2 weeks.
