Hans-Martin Müller (born September 29, 1952 in Geldern ) is a German flautist, concert promoter and music producer.

Live and act

Müller, who comes from a "miners dynasty", began his musical training in the recorder group of the YMCA trombone choir in Kamp-Lintfort . Flute and saxophone lessons followed. Since 1967 he played as a saxophonist and flautist in various rock and jazz bands during his school days at the Adolfinum Moers . With his band Schacht IV he performed in the ARD talent shed , but also in Päff in Cologne in 1971 . After graduating from high school in 1970, he completed a one and a half year internship in mining and began studying mining at RWTH Aachen University in 1972 ; He also received flute lessons from Walter Jeschke at the Duisburg Conservatory . In 1972 he decided to study music at the Cologne University of Music with a major in flute with Karl Heinz Ulrich. After a little more than a semester of study, he won the University Prize of the Cologne University of Music in 1973.

In the third semester, from January 1974, he was principal flautist of the Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, and since 1975 he has been the deputy principal flautist of the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra . In 1977 he graduated from the Musikhochschule with distinction; afterwards he directed a major class in the flute subject at the Cologne University of Music (until 2002). Hans Werner Henze brought him in 1978 to succeed Karlheinz Zöller for the performances of El Cimarrón at the Witten Days for New Chamber Music in Istanbul and Cologne. In 1979 he became a member of Karlheinz Stockhausen's ensemble ( Der Jahreslauf , album 1981). Between 1981 and 1988 he also acted as solo flutist at the Bayreuth Festival . From 1988 he was a long-time member of the Consortium Classicum , with which he recorded numerous CDs. He also worked as a soloist and member of the ensemble in numerous performances of the Witten Days for New Chamber Music. In 1993 he was a guest soloist with Ensemble Modern for its performances of Henze's El Cimarrón in Berlin.

Since 1989 he has regularly organized high-profile concerts in his loft and runs the associated publishing house 2nd Floor . For many years he was also involved as a board member of the WDR Symphony Orchestra, in the staff council of the WDR and as speaker of the lecturers at the Cologne University of Music. In 1998 he was honored as an honorary member of the Cologne Society for New Music; In 2015 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
