Hans Henning Holm

Hans Henning Holm (born November 20, 1908 in Nindorf ; † March 25, 1977 in Hamburg ) was a German writer , stage and radio play author .

Life

After graduating from high school, Hans Henning Holm studied English and Romance languages ​​at the University of Kiel in 1928 at the Holstenschule in Neumünster . He then worked abroad as a translator, editor, editor and writer. His participation in World War II brought him into American captivity. After his release he was temporarily employed by the Hamburg tax office until he came to what was then NWDR in 1952 . From 1960 to 1973 he was head of the Low German department of the NDR . In this capacity, he was also responsible for the show Listen to 'n pray to , for which he wrote numerous contributions. In addition, Holm wrote Low German radio plays and plays, wrote short stories and was instrumental in building up the Hamburg Writers' Association, to which he was temporarily second chairman.

To commemorate his work, the Hans-Henning-Holm-Preis of the Lower Saxony Sparkasse Foundation has been awarded since 1988 for special achievements in the context of Low German radio plays. Holm himself received both the Freudenthal Prize and the Fritz Reuter Prize in 1957 , the latter for his epic poem Dat Stunnenglas .

Hans Henning Holm was married and had a son.
