The pirates took four crew members from Russia , Ukraine and Kiribati hostage. It is said to have been the master, the second officer, the chief engineer and the boatswain of the ship. The kidnapped sailors were released at the end of May. Nothing was known about the payment of a ransom. The ship was chartered by a Spanish company in liner service between Spain and Equatorial Guinea.

Technical specifications

The ship is powered by a seven - cylinder two - stroke diesel engine made by MAN , which was built under license by Hudong Heavy Machinery (type: 7 S 60 MC-C). The engine output is 16,000  kW . The engine acts on a fixed propeller . The ship can thus achieve a speed of up to 19.5  kn . In the bow area , the ship has a transverse thruster control system with an output of 900 kW.

Three diesel generators and an emergency generator are available for power supply. Two of the diesel generators have an apparent power of 1750  kVA , the third over 1500 kVA. The emergency generator has an apparent power of 212.5 kVA.

The ship is equipped with two cranes with a capacity of 40 t. The cranes are located amidships between hatches 3 and 4 and 7 and 8. The ship's container capacity is 1740  TEU . The ship can load 1,330 TEU with a homogeneous load of 14 t containers . 292 connections are available for refrigerated containers. Eight hatches that can be closed with pontoon lids are available for the containers . On deck there is space for nine 40-foot containers one behind the other and up to 12 40-foot containers next to each other.

The deckhouse is at the stern of the ship. The pitches in front of the deck house up to a height of five layers one above the other with 40-foot cell guides and behind the front crane deck spaces on the hatches 4 to 8 a location high equipped with 40-foot cell guides.
