Harald Lillmeyer (born July 28, 1959 in Essen ) is a guitarist specializing in classical music and new music .

Musical career

Harald Lillmeyer studied guitar at the Folkwang University in Essen and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In addition, he studied new music at the Karlsruhe University of Music and "contemporary chamber music" at the Folkwang University.

He had formative personal encounters with John Cage , Giacinto Scelsi , whose KO-THA he premiered in 1985 at the Witten Days for New Chamber Music , Heinz-Klaus Metzger , Rainer Riehn , Josef Anton Riedl , Rolf Riehm , Mathias Spahlinger , Hans Werner Henze and Friedrich Cerha .

Important teachers were Hans Gräf ( Folkwang University ), Wolfgang Hufschmidt (Folkwang University), Karl Scheit ( University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna ) and Wilhelm Bruck ( University of Music Karlsruhe ).

Harald Lillmeyer plays / played in the guitar duo Susanne Hilker / Harald Lillmeyer, in the Xsemble Munich, Ensemble Musica Negativa, with Go Guitars and was a guest with ensemble recherche.

In 1981 he was a prizewinner at the International Guitar Competition in Mettmann, in 1988 he received the Folkwang Award in the Guitar Duo, in 1991 as a member of the Xsemble Munich the Award of the City of Munich and in 2001 with Go Guitars the music grant of the City of Munich.

He has been teaching guitar, chamber music and new music at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich since 1985 . Until 1997 he was also a lecturer at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg and from 1990 to 1995 at the Karlsruhe University of Music .

Since 2002 he has devoted himself intensively to improvised music , working primarily on an electronic expansion of the tonal possibilities of the acoustic and electric guitar ( extended guitar ) as well as an indeterminate playing posture (cf. John Cage : "cComposed Improvisation", "Variations I, III, IV, VIII ") is interested.
