Sven Gerbig (born May 6, 1981 in Lich , Hessen ) is a German ice hockey player who was last under contract at EC Bad Nauheim in the DEL2 .
Career
Gerbig began his career in 1998 at EC Bad Nauheim in the second-class Bundesliga . In total, the winger played for the Red Devils for six years before moving to the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League for the 2004/05 season. Here, the native of Hesse came into play in the fourth row and scored four goals and four assists . After his first season in Germany's top league, Gerbig moved to the Kassel Huskies . In Hessen, the right-handed shooter increased his points yield, but was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the season .
After losing the play-down series against EV Duisburg , Gerbig signed a new two-year contract with the Huskies, where he was one of the top German players in the 2006/07 season with 45 points from 61 games and was instrumental in the successful season the Kassel Huskies could contribute. In the next year, the right-handed shooter could not build on the previous season's performance in terms of points, but was still a reliable player whose strengths lay in combat and action. In the 2007/08 season he was promoted to the DEL with the Huskies after a 3-2 win after games against the Landshut Cannibals .
Gerbig then left the Huskies, with whom he had previously been under contract for three years, and rejoined EC Bad Nauheim, with which he was henceforth active in the top division . The striker had a release clause agreed in his contract in the event that a DEL club should sign him. The now 27-year-old then played 20 games for the Red Devils, in which he scored 33 points. This made Gerbig one of the best German attackers in the league. At the beginning of December 2008, those responsible for the Frankfurt Lions signaled an interest in Gerbig. He made use of his release clause and then switched to the DEL.
In the 2009/10 season he played in the 2nd Bundesliga at EHC Munich before moving to the Hanover Indians in 2010 . He played for the Indians until they went bankrupt in spring 2013. After a year with local rivals Hannover Scorpions , he moved back to his home club Bad Nauheim in the 2014/2015 season. In December 2014, his contract was terminated there.
