Harald Pomper (2013)

Harald Pomper (born November 3, 1976 in Oberwart ) is an Austrian songwriter and cabaret artist and is increasingly devoting himself to socio-political activities.

Live and act

Harald Pomper completed a double apprenticeship as a toolmaker and fitter in southern Burgenland . After completing the skilled worker exams and completing military service , he went to Vienna to attend the commercial academy for employed people via evening school in addition to his work . During these years he also worked as a metal restorer in the court hunting and armory (weapons collection) of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. In 2003 he began studying at the University of Vienna (Faculty of Social Sciences , majoring in journalism and communication studies ) and turned to journalism (including the online youth magazine CHiLLi.cc , Niederösterreichische Nachrichten or the Austria Press Agency ).

During these years Pomper was involved in various musical projects, but only dared to turn fully to music and cabaret after completing his studies in 2010 . For this purpose he moved to Berlin , where he lived until 2014. From 2005 to 2013 he published his music under the pseudonym "Stara Bas" and appeared in public with this name. In 2013 he founded the traveling Offene Bühne Burgenland” , which he still looks after today.

He also appears increasingly with socio-political actions. In 2009 he was one of the organizers of the “ fairy lights around parliament”, which saw itself as a sign of moral courage. In 2017, he unveiled a redesigned EU flag in front of the Vienna Parliament to indicate the shift in power from democratically elected representatives to representatives of large multinational corporations. This flag, with the stars of Europe lying broken on the ground, while the new, shining stars in the European sky represent the logos of various large corporations, is also part of his solo program “Endgame Democracy” . In the same year, as a symbolic symbol against human-made climate change , he walked through Austria for a month and a half in order to get to his performances. In this context, his album "Strassenhund" was created . This was recorded using a mobile recorder on streets, pedestrian zones or forest clearings while he was walking.

In addition to his cabaret and music cabaret programs, Harald Pomper can also be seen regularly with exclusively musical appearances on various stages. In addition to tours that take him through Germany and Austria, he repeatedly gives individual appearances or makes guest appearances at festivals. In 2010 he completed a Japan tour with a total of 13 performances in Tokyo , Osaka and Aichi. For this, some of his pieces were translated into the Japanese language.

Harald Pomper writes all the texts and music for his cabaret programs and albums himself. Occasionally he also uses traditionals, which he adapts for his purposes.

In 2018 Pomper wrote the anti-hate song "A leiwandes Land" with Franz Alexander Langer , which was played by numerous artists, such as B. Cornelius Obonya , Harri Stojka , Reinhard Nowak , Günther Paal , Paul Pizzera , Otto Jaus , Eva Billisich , Leo Lukas , Omar Sarsam and many others were recorded and recorded. A hip-hop part comes from Skero , Kid Pex and Disorder .
