Otto Jaus (* 1983 in Vienna ) is an Austrian actor , singer and cabaret artist .

Life

Otto Jaus spent his childhood in Großebersdorf in the Mistelbach district , from the age of nine he was a member of the Vienna Boys' Choir , where he received vocal training until 1999. After high school with seven Insufficient had left, he learned three years the profession of technical draftsman . From 2003 he studied drama, singing and dance at the Vienna Conservatory , and in 2005 he received a one-semester scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London. He attended master classes with Angelika Kirchschlager , Bobby McFerrin and Herman van Veen, among others.

After finishing his studies, he worked on the rock stage Staatz and the City Theater Klagenfurt in Jesus Christ Superstar , Jekyll & Hyde and the Threepenny Opera with and stood at the cabaret Simpl , among others in the program under the carpet as well as Pezi and Tintifax in Krawutzi Kaputzi - Strictest Jugendverbot! on stage. In 2012 he played in the musical Fame at the Graz Opera, in 2012 and 2013 he played the role of Manolo Costazuela in the play An Unequal Couple at the Berndorf Festival .

In January 2014 his first solo program Almost finished - A musical rampage premiered, for which he was awarded the advancement award at the Austrian Cabaret Prize in November 2014 .

In the summer of 2014 he played in the circus princess in the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz in Munich. At the Mörbisch Seefestspiele in 2015 he played the role of naval officer Enrico Piselli in One Night in Venice . Since March 2016 he can be seen in the comedy Romeo & Juliet by Michael Niavarani in his Globe Vienna as the son of the aging Romeo. While working on Romeo and Juliet, he met the actress Eva-Maria Frank , with whom he has been dating and has been married since 2019.

At ORF he was a member of the advice team for What's new? as well as to be seen as part of the ORF summer cabaret .

In 2015 he founded the dialect duo Pizzera & Jaus with cabaret artist Paul Pizzera . Together they had several musical successes, including the song Jedermann and the album Unheard of solid , both of which took first place in the respective music charts. In autumn 2017 they also started a joint music cabaret program, which they also took to the Burgtheater in Vienna .

In 2019 he stood at the side of Miriam Fussenegger for the filming of the comedy Head Over Head by Andreas Schmied in front of the camera. With the Weinviertler band Skolka he worked in 2020 for the Reggae -Single Domois, wia ma children woan ... together.
