Omar Sarsam (* 1980 in Vienna ) is an Austrian cabaret artist and doctor .

Life

Omar Sarsam grew up in Vienna, where he studied at the Medical University and then trained as a specialist in pediatric and adolescent surgery at the Vienna Donauspital and the Meidling trauma hospital . His grandparents emigrated from Austria to Iraq in 1946 , and his parents returned to Vienna in the 1970s.

Via a detour to the musical, he came to children's and improvisational theater with Michaela Obertscheider, who later directed him as well. In 2004 he was on stage for the first time with the improvisation show Hands Up in the Niedermair cabaret , in 2006 he played the monkey in Moni and the monster monkey by Franzobel .

With Marc Bernhuber he founded the disco party Brothers , their song Disco, Disco, Party, Party made it into the Austrian charts in 2010 and was viewed over 16 million times on YouTube . With Bernhuber he was also on stage together with the program Owl and Duty . At the beginning of 2016, Sarsam celebrated the premiere of his first solo cabaret program Diagnosis: Doctor . In the same year he also appeared with Josef Hader , Lisa Eckhart , Clemens Maria Schreiner and Berni Wagner in the Wiener Stadtsaal under the title Hader & Friends .

He has been a member of the What's New? Advice team since 2016 . . He also had other television appearances in 2017 in the Schwabing clubhouse and the ORF broadcast Pratersterne hosted by Hosea Ratschiller . In April 2017 he could be heard for a week in the Ö3-Wecker , in November 2017 he took part in the ORF quiz show Echt now ?! part. In December 2017, he was a guest at Midnight Peak.

In February 2018, Herzalarm premiered his second solo program , with which he could also be seen at the Vienna Cabaret Festival in July 2018 . In May 2018 he performed together with Lukas Resetarits , Klaus Eckel , Alex Kristan and Martina Schwarzmann in the Wiener Stadthalle as part of the “Cabaret Summit”. In December 2019 he could be seen again alongside Resetarits, Kristan, Andreas Vitásek and BlöZinger as part of the cabaret summit on ORF.

In February 2019 he was one of the four candidates for the celebrity edition of the Millionenshow , on Puls 4 he has been moderating the Comedy Grenzgänger format since February 2019 . In July 2019 he was represented at the Vienna Cabaret Festival with the Diagnosis: Doctor program . His program Herzalarm was shown at the beginning of July 2020 as part of the ORF summer cabaret.
