history

Soest and its districts

Hattrop was first mentioned in 1186 in a file by Philip von Heinsberg as Hattorp . The Cologne Oberhof located here comprised 24 hooves, often in the local area itself, but also in Hattropholsen, Meckingsen and Katrop . From the beginning Hattrop belonged to the parish of St. Petri , whereby the Catholic population is now parish near St. Albertus-Magnus in the north of Soest. From 1909 the artist Wilhelm Morgner had a "summer studio" in Hattrop . In 1918 a “peasant council” was formed in Hattrop as an armed vigilante.

Since July 1, 1969, Hattrop has been part of Soest through the Soest / Beckum law .

Partnership Hattrop - Guérard

In 1967 the mayors of the municipality of Guérard and the then still independent municipality of Hattrop in the French municipality signed a protocol of friendship. Contacts on a personal level had already existed since shortly after the Second World War, as the Hattroper Fritz Coers had met Pierre Fanton, the son of a French farmer from Guérard, for whom Coers worked, while he was a prisoner of war. According to official information, the partnership between Guérard and Hattrop is the oldest registered partnership in Soest.
