Large, gable-independent half-timbered building with a high ground floor and a low storage floor. Wall structure with straight struts in an axially symmetrical distribution. Storage floor and gable triangle as well as two further attics over stitch beams with filler wood protruding slightly. Boarding of the gable triangle not related to the construction period. The front and rear gables are basically the same, but facing the street the filler wood is decorated with a serrated frieze, while the rear gable is simply rounded. On the threshold of the storage floor to the street there is an inscription with the date “31. Martij 1660 ". The ground floor and storage floor were each divided into two aisles. The more precise spatial division could not be investigated. built in 1660 07/18/1985 22nd

A small, eaves-standing half-timbered house with two floors in a one-story room. Upper floor protruding on all sides. With the floor plan it stands out from the other low, alley-like buildings on the north side of the Wiesenkirchhof . Both floors are about the same height. The projections have simple, rounded beam heads with interposed, also smoothly rounded filler wood. The straight struts on the corners of the building and the even distribution of the columns create a clearly structured facade design. The side gable tips are boarded up.

Due to the consistently storey demarcation of the house scaffolding, the design of the protruding zone and the wall structure, the building is likely to have been built in the second half of the 17th century. There is evidence that it was used as a double dwelling as early as the 18th century.

From 1704 until the Seven Years' War the house was also an inn under the name "Zum König von Prussen".

Large half-timbered gabled house from 1585 in an exposed location, with a trapezoidal, irregular floor plan on a property enclosed on three sides by streets, with the street Am Seel to the west, the Wiesenstraße to the north and the street Damm to the east. Accordingly, the house had three front sides. After severe war damage in 1944, the half-timbering on the dam side was restored in a simplified manner. The rear part, which was no longer rebuilt, was replaced by a massive extension in 1968.

The structure of the house consists of a plank-high substructure and a relatively high half-timbered upper floor. Due to the height of the upper floor, it was presumably no longer just a storage floor, but perhaps partly an upper floor.

The upper floor as well as the gable triangle with two further attic floors protrude over stitch beams. The house originally had a steep gable; the cripple hip was only created around 1800. The stabbing beams of the triangular gable projection are additionally supported by dovetail fasteners. In the first compartments behind the gable, the storeys on the sides of the house also protrude in order to convert the irregular floor plan of the ground floor into the almost rectangular floor plan of the top floor.

The wall structure of the upper floor is reinforced with threshold-frame struts and concealed headbands. The stand feet are braced alternately with ankle bands and ankle braces. Carved fan rosettes on the ankle bands. This decorative strut has also been preserved on the side facing the street Am Seel . The thresholds of the upper floor and the gable triangle with floral ornamental carvings based on Aldegrever models, each interrupted by square fields with portraits above the heads of the stitched beams. There also house brands and dating inscription 1585.

The half-timbering of the floor-to-ceiling floor was much weaker before the war damage, without direct reference to the timbering of the upper floor and stiffened with long struts. So here the outer wall has already been replaced at an earlier point in time. It is conceivable that the house at Wiesenstrasse 6 originally had a stone ground floor and the upper floor projected over Knaggen to the street.

A half-timbered house set back from the street, independent from the gable and with a high gate in the middle of the gable. Inscribed date on the gate beam to the year 1732. The quarry-stone walled, northern rear gable wall of the house is much older. It forms the remainder of a late medieval rear building that must have belonged to a formerly very rich predecessor of today's half-timbered house from 1732.

With their high position, two stone window frames preserved in the quarry stone wall indicate the former basement of the rear building. The not very large, tall rectangular window openings are each divided in the middle by a strong, vertical center post. Posts, lintels and side walls are provided with very wide bevels that taper to a point about 20 cm above the sill. The walls have holes on the inside for a former iron grating.

The relatively small formats of the windows for the exposure of the traditionally most important private living space of the family prove that this rear building did not contain a high hall at the time of its construction, but was still in keeping with the building tradition of the time before 1520. The very wide bevels of the window frames and the missing corner blocks of the masonry, which is made of small-sized quarry stone, again speak for an emergence after 1400, so that one can assume that the rear building was built between 1400 and 1520.

The patrician property was named "Der Aschenbrock" after the owner at the time. The mainly stone, two-storey main house stands far away from the street on a large plot. This is still separated from Filzenstraße by a high quarry stone wall. In the 17th and 18th centuries the property was the residence of Soest mayors several times.

The south and west sides and parts of the north side are made of solid stone, with stone walls on the doors and windows. The gable triangles, the east side and most of the north side were later renewed in half-timbering. The western part of the house, with higher-lying windows and its basement, is a former hall area. The hall integrated into the overall structure indicates a construction period in the last third of the 16th century. However, the building - especially the basement - seems to contain parts of a late medieval predecessor, because the basement masonry shows a disturbance in the southwest corner to Filzenstrasse . Here the masonry is considerably thinner than on the other sides. This may be due to an older rear building being widened to the width of the front building. There is a parallel in this regard with the house on Lütgengrandweg 13 .

The roof consists of a rafter roof in the shape of the 16th century. The lower collar beam position is intercepted by a simply standing chair, which is braced in a longitudinal structure by straight, board-strong headbands and the pillars of which are chamfered at the edges. The straight, non-swinging shape of the chair headbands could indicate a more exact dating of the house construction to the time around 1600, since such shapes then became characteristic of the 17th century.

The original floor plan was changed significantly through numerous renovations - including in 1932 and 1973. In 1973, the window openings on the ground floor were also widened, which were pulled down to the ground in the form of door windows.

probably built in the last third of the 16th century 01/31/1986 154

Small, two-storey half-timbered gabled house in a one-story room. Core building on the upper floor only three compartments wide. Upper floor and gable triangle protruding over simply rounded stitch beam heads with also rounded filler wood. The wall structure of the upper floor with straight struts. The half-timbering of the first floor as well as the boarding of the gable triangle have recently been renewed. The older rooms on the first floor have been handed down in photographs and are also stiffened with struts.

Later extensions (tubs) under towed roofs on both sides of the eaves. The left bucket from the 19th century and built on the area of the Kützelbach that formerly flowed directly past the house. For this reason, the extremely wide, lateral protrusion of the upper floor threshold of the core building to the southeast, which is exceptionally supported by a single cleat, in order to be able to give the upper floor more floor space above the former stream. The right bucket was possibly added shortly after the construction of the core structure or in the course of the 18th century, as the protruding protruding beam of the upper floor runs through here.

Due to the trimming and the type of projection, the house can be dated to the second half of the 17th century.

Large, three-storey half-timbered gabled house at the confluence of Ritterstrasse and Walburgerstrasse ; gable facing Walburgerstrasse , eaves facing Ritterstrasse . House scaffolding consisting of plank-high substructure and storage floor. The gable in a version from the first half of the 19th century, plastered on the two lower floors and the storage floor slated together with the gable triangle. The top of the gable with a crooked hip.

The half-timbered structure is exposed to the Ritterstrasse . Here - as presumably also formerly on the street gable - designed as a front side and the storage floor protrudes slightly over beam overhangs. The wall structure of the storage floor with threshold-frame struts and concealed headbands. The stands alternate with quarter-circle footbands and fan rosettes with decorative struts. The threshold carved with Aldegre ornaments and the date 1584. The half-timbering of the two lower floors is younger and only in the 17th / 18th centuries. Century originated. The floor plan also changed at that time.

To the south-west of the house on Walburgerstrasse there is a parking lot, on the edge of which you can see the rubble stone wall remnants of a late medieval neighboring house. It is probably the remains of a rear building. The associated front building, facing Ritterstraße , was demolished in 1768 and the desolate house of the innkeeper Friederich was added to his yard and garden.

The former patrician farm stands on a spacious living space. The complex consists of the house, a garden house and a barn with an extension. The massive ground floor of the house was originally drivable. The half-timbered storey and the gable protrude, the filler wood is carved. The barn is marked 1670. The facade is designed symmetrically. The stone-walled garden house was built in the 18th century on a square floor plan, it is covered with a hipped roof. The main house emerged from a renovation in the second half of the 17th century. 06/16/1986 328

Narrow, three-storey half-timbered house with a gable facing Brüderstraße . The wall structure with long, straight foot struts and double-nailed bolt chains. The first floor, the storage floor, and the two gable floors protrude over profiled joist beams with filler wood. Filling wood and lower edges of the sleepers adorned with ornamental carvings in the form of egg bars, twisted and simple strings of pearls and toothed cutting strips. The beam heads of the protrusion of the 1st floor additionally carved with volutes at the sides. The decoration dates the house to the 2nd half of the 17th century.

Characteristic of the 2nd half of the 17th century, the originally the same storey heights of the ground floor and first floor (ground floor sunk by later elevation of the street). They demonstrate residential use for both storeys that is more oriented towards the street. In the rear part of the ground floor there is still a high wall fireplace, made of green sandstone, from an earlier kitchen stove on the northwest side of the eaves. The kitchen was therefore still board-high, so that the two-storey substructure was limited to the front part of the house. The storage floor stands out clearly in the façade compared to the two residential floors due to its lower wall height.

The interior of the building is now heavily redesigned due to modern business use. Remains of the old ground floor ceiling in the area of the former kitchen hall and the wall fireplace mentioned have been preserved.

Narrow, two-story storey building at the junction of Marktstrasse , facing the gable to Jakobistrasse . Projections over stitch beams and beam overhangs without cleats. Quarter-round filler wood with carved flower and tendril motifs. Inscription decoration on the gable threshold with the name of the builder and the date 1695.

The gable triangle protruding three times is boarded up in the uppermost tip of the gable. The boarding is also decorated with baroque motifs of flowers and tendrils. The wall structure of the two full storeys of the same height each has a chain of bars and is stiffened by long, straight foot struts at the corners of the building. The gable facade is emphasized axially symmetrically by a middle pair of foot struts in the gable triangle. The old room division, especially in the ground floor used as a shop, was largely destroyed.

Small, two-storey half-timbered house of six containers with a gable facing the Vreithof. Standing with the eastern eaves facing Georgsgasse. Wall stud construction with mortised floor beams. According to the inscription on the lower gable threshold, built in 1661.

The gable triangle protrudes twice over rounded, profiled head beam heads. The fillers, which are also rounded, have a lower edge with a serrated frieze. The lower edges of the threshold are chamfered.
The framework of the substructure on the gable side was renewed in the 19th century, but the western eaves side was largely preserved in its original condition. There the three bolt chains are nailed twice; the corners of the building have long struts.

In 1980 the building was renovated and the framework of the rear gable was greatly renewed and supplemented. The inner floor plan was completely changed and the old storey heights abandoned.

Am Seel 10 / Wippgasse
map
The half-timbered gable house at Am Seel 10 from 1728 also includes a component bordering to the north, with the eaves facing Wippgasse , which still contains small remains from the late Middle Ages. This large, two-storey half-timbered component above a high wall plinth has been heavily modified through multiple modifications up to the roof area. The remainder of a stone gable wall as the east end of the house gives a clear indication of its great age. On the north side (towards Wippgasse ) this stone wall protrudes laterally at the height of the building's eaves over profiled stone. It is very likely that the lowest tier of a stepped or stepped gable began here, as is still preserved in a variant in the rear building of the castle courtyard ( Burghofstraße 22 ). At that time, a half-timbered construction was attached to this stone wall to the west, which is clearly indicated by the smooth masonry end of the gable shield on this side. This construction (half-timbered house with stone gable end) corresponds to that of the house at Petrikirchhof 5 / Mariengasse 1 from 1521 and is archived from the 17th century from the old Soest meat pound on Marktstrasse (today's location of the Volksbank). The stone wall is likely to be dated to around 1520.

On the one hand, the function of the stone wall could have been that of a fire wall, provided that another neighboring building - as is the case today - was directly connected to the east. On the other hand, this type of construction could also be seen as a particularly representative design for a building that was formerly free-standing to the east. Then, however, in the 16th century, in the area where the streets Wiesenstraße, Am Seel and Wippgasse merge today , there should have been a vacant space. The stone wall in the house at Am Seel 10 cannot provide an answer to these questions at the moment, as modern cladding prevents detailed investigations.

The former patrician house stands on a large walled part of the house. It is set away from the street in stone, the rear building is free-standing. The building was mentioned in the 13th century as the ministerial seat of the Archbishops of Cologne. It has been owned by upper class families since the 16th century. From 1614 to 1894 it was owned by the von Fürstenberg-Herdringen family. The Romanesque rear building dates from around 1200, it is bricked in quarry stone and covered with a gable roof. The stepped gables protrude on console stones. The gable field is divided by three pyramidal arched windows with columns set in the windows. The eaves sides are structured by late medieval windows. A ridge vault rests on a central support on the ground floor. Remains of a vault covering from the Gothic period were uncovered. The chimney is labeled 1573, but it was not installed until the twentieth century. The main entrance is on the southeast side of the eaves, it is framed by frameworks. The main house made of quarry stone bears the designation 1559, it is illuminated through multi-part windows. A staircase to the upper floor was installed in the 18th century. In the north-east there is a hall with a basement, which is equipped with remarkable furnishings from the 16th century. Scenic stucco decorations can be seen on the ceiling, scenes from the parable of Lazarus, the Evangelists, Judith and Paul on the walls and on the fireplace. Today, city events and receptions are held in the knight's hall, it is also used as a festive wedding room. In memory of the Archbishop of Cologne, Philipp von Heinsberg, the so-called Phillips meal with pumpernickel, wine and beer is organized here every year. map
The residential building Am Hohnekirchhof 5a , together with the residential buildings Am Hohnekirchof 5b and 5c, form a closed, eaves-connected row of aisles in half-timbered construction, which formerly closed the churchyard of St. Maria zur Höhe to the north. Today covered by a second row of small houses from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and can only be reached via a narrow alley from the churchyard. Most of the Gaden are plastered or covered and their original appearance has also been changed by various additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. Only in the middle aisle no. 5b is the old half-timbered construction exposed on the southern eaves side and shows a wall structure with four uprights, which are connected by two thin chains of bars. The stand heads are stiffened at the corners of the building with the frame by means of trimmed head straps. The right corner stand also shows the upper part of a long foot strut. The overhang of the roof beam is supported by double-grooved lugs, which were formerly probably decorated with dew band profiles. Due to the shape of the half-timbered room, the core of the row of alleys dates from the last third of the 16th century. 16./17. Century; Basically comes from the last third of the 16th century 09/24/1987 515

Thomä-Grandweger-Wallstraße 3
map
Small, two-storey half-timbered gabled house. Only the half-timbering of the gable triangle is visible, otherwise all sides of the house are plastered, clad or covered by a younger extension. The right eaves side at the level of the ground floor was also replaced with masonry.

The gable triangle protrudes over stitch beams. The head beam heads are rounded and the front surfaces decorated with triglyphs. Filled wood is inserted between the beam heads, the carving of which consists of a double-ended, twisted band made up of fillets and pearl rods. The carved decorations, which are very similar in details to those of the neighboring house Thomä-Grandweger-Wallstraße 4 from 1647, also date the building to the middle of the 17th century.

The building formerly had a steep gable, now a half hip. An earlier projection of the 1st floor at the gable is to be assumed.

The original interior floor plan can still be clearly seen today and consisted of a narrow hallway on the right-hand side of the house, which led to the back of the kitchen, which spanned the entire width of the house. To the left of the hall was a room facing the street, and under the room was the cellar. The hallway and kitchen had no basement. This floor plan from the 17th century is largely preserved on the ground floor. In contrast, the old floor plan on the upper floor is not entirely clear. There will have been a single room facing the street across the hall and living room. It can be assumed that the kitchen ceiling, on the other hand, used to be a little higher and therefore only a low chamber was above it.

The restaurant and café originally served as a waiting area for the former small train station. The kidney-shaped building is typical of the construction of the 1950s. The curved building is covered with a protruding flat roof and is illuminated by a surrounding ribbon of windows. Color windows, grilles and floor coverings have been preserved from the furnishings from the construction period. Bruno Paul built the house outside the city ring for the manufacturer Otto Jahn. The rectangular clinker building is covered with a very flat hipped roof, it stands on a very large property. The horizontal is emphasized by two-tone, three-dimensional brick strips. The equipment and furniture from the time of construction have been partially preserved. The use of various exotic veneers in the interior is remarkable. The walnut relief on the fireplace is a work by Wilhelm Wulff , the stove plate is marked 1930. 1929/1930 11/15/1996 624

The flat two-storey concrete skeleton building with a rectangular floor plan was created in the 1960s based on designs by Rainer Schell. It is still used as an art museum. In the eastern part, up to the extensive renovation work in 2015/16, octagonal supports and a decentralized open atrium with a water basin formed the base level . The facade of the upper floor is essentially designed in alternating horizontal strips of clinker and field stones , which are partially interrupted by large windows and fields of glass blocks . Only the west facade is completely clinkered. A coordinated choice of materials and shapes also characterize the design of the interior. 1961/1962 01/08/1999 635

The former house in Plange is used as a district archive, it is located on the tree-lined grounds of the former Plange mill. The two-storey, clinkered building is covered with very flat hip roofs, the planning and construction, including the furnishings, was the responsibility of the Bruno Paul office . A principle in the construction and planning was "a moral obligation to society - urban planning, architecture and industry should fulfill their socio-political obligations". Wide roof overhangs characterize the building and the loggia. Groups of windows, triangular bodies and a balcony porch structure the building. The name of the client Georg Plange can be read in nested lettering above the entrance. Georg Plange had the house built for his managing director Wilhelm Plange. From the construction time equipment are preserved: the fireplace, wall cupboards, the staircase and some pieces of furniture. Bruno Paul also designed the furniture, they are part of the monument. They were manufactured in the Deutsche Werkstätten in Hellerau . 1926/27 05/17/2013 685
